Room 11 are experimenting with some magazine pictures. We are learning to find and make patterns to tell a story we can see. Yesterday during coding we learnt it was important to be able to see detail and changes in patterns to debug our programs. This artwork helps us look at everything on a page and pick bits we want to focus on.
Nivanna: In my first one I only looked at one thing in the picture. In the second one I picked out lots of interesting objects and made these all stand out. I was a lot more creative and saw more.
Aurora: I did the same and found I really liked the second try.

Room 11 students were off to various meetings this afternoon so Room 10 children came to and did some art. They learnt how to blend and scratch pastels on black paper. They pinned their work on the wall so they could stand back and see what else they might add before they were finished.

Room 10 is visiting for the morning. We presented our Karakia in preparation for assembly and then read te reo books and played kupu games. Now we are sharing our online bookshelves!

Room 11 are enjoying the creation of sea creatures for the community Matariki art exhibition in town soon.

We have been reading Maori books and breaking down the words to find out the meaning using the Maori dictionary, we also are using bilingual books to help us understand  the texts on the books.
We enjoy it very much and hope we can learn more about reading using questions in te reo.
